The New York Jets entered Week 11 with momentum after consecutive victories over the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. They carried that confidence into their matchup against the New England Patriots and took an early lead in the opening quarter.
The start suggested another win was within reach for Aaron Glenn’s squad. New England responded quickly and seized control of the game. The Jets never found an answer and suffered a 27-14 defeat that dropped their record to 2-8 on the season.
Colin Cowherd has not held back in his assessment of Glenn’s tenure with the Jets. During a recent segment of The Herd, Cowherd directed his criticism toward what should have been Glenn’s area of strength, given his background as a defensive coordinator.
“Aaron Glenn has destroyed, has nuked, the Jet’s defense. It’s now terrible. Forget the fact he can’t handle press conferences. Forget the fact the offense looks like a service academy. I mean, it’s just, it’s embarrassing,” Colin said. “I mean, it’s like the guy took over McDonald’s, and he can’t even get the French fries right. I didn’t ask for new menu items. I didn’t ask for the milkshake machine to work at McDonald’s. It never does. Just keep the fries great. We didn’t ask him to do a lot. Just keep the defense good.”

Glenn took over a unit that Robert Saleh maintained among the league’s top five defenses for three consecutive seasons. Cowherd believes that the foundation has been completely torn down during Glenn’s first year.
Opposing quarterbacks have thrown multiple touchdowns without a single interception against the Jets’ defense this season. The team has recorded only one takeaway through 11 weeks, placing them near the bottom of the league in that category.
Cowherd rejected comparisons to his early criticism of Dan Campbell in Detroit. He pointed out that the Lions displayed aggression and competed in close games before Aidan Hutchinson’s arrival provided additional help.
The Jets have not shown similar fight under Glenn, particularly on defense, where his expertise was expected to make an immediate impact following recent trades of key players like Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.
