Quarterback Drake Maye delivered another commanding performance Thursday night as the New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets to secure their eighth consecutive victory. Maye completed 25 of 34 passes for 281 yards and one touchdown while posting a 107.6 passer rating.
The Patriots scored 21 unanswered points before the end of the third quarter to pull away with a double-digit win. The outing marked Maye’s fourth consecutive game with at least 250 passing yards.
His recent surge has attracted attention across the league, including from former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison. Harrison expressed his belief that Maye deserves consideration for the MVP award during an appearance on the “Deebo And Joe” podcast.
“Drake Maye! Dude, he has elevated his game,” Harrison said. “It’s no way, he is not MVP, if he continues this.”

Through 11 games, Maye leads the NFL with 2,836 passing yards and has thrown 20 touchdowns against just five interceptions. His 20 touchdown passes rank tied for second in the league.
The former No. 3 overall pick has transformed New England’s offense in his second season and exceeded even the highest expectations the organization held for him. Maye is currently on pace to finish the year with over 4,300 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
He ranks second among all quarterbacks with an 8.9 yards per attempt average while completing nearly 72 percent of his throws. The Patriots will travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 as Maye continues building his case.
Recent MVP history shows four quarterbacks have claimed the last seven awards: Josh Allen in 2024, Lamar Jackson in 2023 and 2019, Patrick Mahomes in 2022 and 2018, and Aaron Rodgers in 2021 and 2020. If Maye wins the honor, he would become the third-youngest MVP in league history behind only Jackson and Jim Brown, who received the award in 1957 at age 21.
